  1. Finance professionals are not providing the management information that chief executives want, but the changes needed to rectify this situation call for rigorous standardisation and simplification, and the rapid evolution of the finance function. Lesley Meall, FSN contributing editor, looks at a recent survey which suggests that many finance professionals have not evolved far enough.

  3. Hadley Group, a European cold rolled steel manufacturer, has extended its portfolio of Infor solutions with an investment in Infor PM 10 (Performance Management) software. Hadley Group which had outgrown its Excel spreadsheet based system will deploy PM10 to its manufacturing sites in the UK and Germany in early 2010, and later roll it out to staff in Dubai and Thailand.
  4. Solinest, a leading distributor of confectionaries and snack foods in France and Belgium, has selected Clarity’s CPM solution for the firm’s planning, budgeting, reporting and sales analytics needs, based on Clarity’s unified approach to CPM functionality.
  5. The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has cut costs and is reporting a reliable service since moving to COA Solutions’ managed service, part of the COA Solutions on Demand portfolio. The Trust’s COA Solutions financial management system (FMS) with integrated document management (using Version One’s technology) is being managed at COA Solutions’ service centre in Bridgwater. COA Solutions on Demand, which comprises managed and bureau services, was officially launched in 2009.
  6. Morgan Sindall the construction business will overhaul its financial reporting systems using IBM business analytic solutions. Morgan Sindall operates five main divisions and will use IBM business analytics software to help consolidate its reporting processes and improve business performance.
  7. Mokum, the management consultancy has partnered with document management and imaging software author, Version One. Mokum’s Oracle Financials clients will now be able to access Version One’s document management and imaging solutions directly from their Oracle system, enabling them to carry out paperless accounting.

IBM has announced major enhancements to its performance management software designed to help CFOs and finance managers accelerate the adoption of business analytics and drive better decision making.IBM says thenew analytic finance solutions can reduce customer planning cycles in half and reduce reporting cycles from days to minutes. The claim is based on past performance from pre-9.5 version customers
  9. Infor, the provider of business software for mid-market customers, says that Aldata, the retail software specialist, has selected Infor PM 10 Performance Management software to improve its strategic reporting and forecasting capabilities.
  10. Unit 4 Agresso NV, the mid-market ERP vendor is set to re-enforce its market positioning with fresh branding. Talking to FSN, Dave Turner, Group Marketing Director of Unit 4, said, “We are currently the top 6 globally for mid-market ERP software and Europe’s 2nd largest ERP supplier. Operating under a single brand will help to consolidate this position.
