Developing financial systems expertise for a 300-year old institute

The Bank of England is the central bank to the United Kingdom. The Bank of England exists to ensure monetary stability and to protect and enhance the stability of the financial system. Sometimes known as the “Old Lady” of Threadneedle Street, the Bank was founded in 1694, nationalised on 1 March 1946, and in 1997 gained operational independence to set monetary policy.

The challenge:

SystemsAccountants was originally retained by the Bank of England to recruit an internal BI support and development team. Because of this work, we were subsequently engaged to provide a small team of BI contractors to support the creation of an MI reporting framework, resulting from the creation of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).

The outcome:

We provided a Hyperion Essbase Contractor to work alongside the PRA Project Manager and two Cognos BI Developers to assist with defining and delivering essential reporting requirements, the timelines of which were dictated by a legal cut over date. Following the completion of the project we were then retained to recruit an internal permanent team to replace our contractors.
