Applying for Director of Finance & Accounting

Position: Accounting Manager / Director of Finance / Controller (CFO-Track)

Industry: Healthcare

Location: Sacramento or San Jose, CA (On-site)

Compensation: Up to $150,000 base salary

A growing healthcare organization with multiple service lines is seeking a strategic and hands-on finance leader to join their executive team. This is a key hire for the company and a clear succession plan is in place for this person to evolve into the Chief Financial Officer.

The role will directly support the C-suite and be responsible for all aspects of financial strategy, planning, and operations across four distinct revenue streams. The company is already live on NetSuite and is seeking someone who can own the system and build on the current infrastructure.

Note: This role requires an active CPA and hands-on NetSuite experience. Candidates without both will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the executive leadership team to lead financial strategy, cost controls, and sustainable growth planning.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close across multiple entities.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-range planning for all business units.
  • Analyze cost structures and profitability across service lines; implement cost-cutting initiatives where appropriate.
  • Ensure full tax compliance and manage filings in collaboration with external CPAs and advisors.
  • Maintain and enhance NetSuite ERP functionality for finance and accounting operations.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and financial dashboards to inform strategic decisions.
  • Support fundraising, M&A, or audit efforts as the company grows.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active CPA license (non-negotiable).
  • Minimum 5 years of direct NetSuite ERP experience (non-negotiable).
  • 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership in a multi-entity environment.
  • Background in financial strategy, planning, and budgeting in a growth-oriented organization.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial operations in complex or regulated industries.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Ability to work in either Sacramento or San Jose, with occasional travel to offices in Northern California

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in healthcare, home care, or service-based industries.
  • Experience scaling a finance team or stepping into a CFO-type role in a mid-sized business.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a transformative leadership role in a mission-driven healthcare organization, with the full backing of the executive team to shape financial strategy and grow into the CFO seat.
