Driving business transformation through Oracle Demantra

For 80 years, Canon has been delivering cutting-edge technology in the imaging sector throughout the world. Founded in 1937, Canon has grown into a global company operating in a wide range of markets, including business solutions, consumer imaging, broadcasting and communications, medical systems and industrial products.

The Project

The objective of the Commercial Management & Planning project is to transform the processes and systems of the CIG (Consumer Imaging Group) in order to provide better visibility, better control of the management of the company and to allow Canon to deploy its strategy based on a new culture of trust and accountability.

The project was based on Oracle Demantra solution for business budgeting across EU18. The project now focuses on finalizing the design/build/test of the Demantra system using sprint/agile methodology and leading business transformation activities for its investment management.

Due to the scale of the business transformation, the project team had to bring in additional resources to help with validation (primarily in the design/build/test pipeline) and business transformation (change management, adoption, training, user support, primarily in the business transformation section).

The Solution

The SystemsAccountants ERP & Transformation team quickly assembled and deployed a team of highly experienced consultants, with a very rare skill mix, who implemented the changes, testing, implementation and training.

The Result

Canon successfully implemented the Demantra discounts and promotions campaign on time and on budget in 18 countries. The system is now used by over 400 users and helps them manage over £300 million in investments.

"We recognized that Demantra's resource offering was particularly limited, the SA team worked with us to help us make the right decisions to recruit experienced consultants to achieve the expected results. Our resource needs required good technical knowledge, but also collaboration with 400 users and sellers based on strong interpersonal skills and involvement of the parties for the smooth running of the project. SA perfectly met these needs by recruiting the consultants, who accompanied us during both years of transformation. The SA team and its consultants all played a key role in the success of this project and were highly appreciated by everyone in the company."
